i accidentally became a writer

i used to hate writing. hated it.

essays in school? torture. journals? never. writing was for people with degrees, not for builders like me.

but then something weird happened. i wrote a few words online… and those words made me money. that's when i accidentally became a writer.

back in feb 2025, i came across mohit on twitter. he posted that one single article made him $1033.69. just one article. insane, right?

i hated writing, but the $$ pulled me in lol.

so i joined the medium partner program. only $2/month. and it turned out to be worth it.

by august 17, 2025, while writing this, i had already made $786.94. add $14.70 from affiliate sales.

total $801.64.

live medium earnings update: $1274.89

and guess what? i only spent $14. profit margin = 98.25%.

p.s. i even got sponsored once. but yeah… i got scammed too. story for another day.

medium is crazy. you earn from writing. from affiliate sales. from sponsorships.

plus you build your image. grow your twitter. grow any social media you want.

it's like an infinite money loop.

now the real question: how do you grow on medium?

truth is, not everyone makes it. many people write 100+ articles and barely hit $5-10/month.

me? i wrote just 68 so far.

so what's the secret?

consistency. honesty. being real.

try different fields. explore niches. self stories don't usually work on medium. that's why i'm writing this one on my own site lol.

just focus on quality. don't let ai do it for you. be human.

when you explore enough, you'll find your niche. mine is n8n. 80% of my money comes from it.

and remember, my first 47 articles barely made me $39.48. then the next 21 brought in $747.46.

i still don't consider myself a "writer." i'm a builder who writes. a learner who shares. someone who figured out that words are just another way to build things.

writing made me a better builder. it made me think clearer. it connected me with people building the same crazy stuff.

don't worry about being perfect. don't worry about being original.

just be honest. just be helpful.
